What year did Diamond-Star officially start?

I thought it wasn't until the 90's, or late 80's.

I know they had sales and marketing agreements/rebadging before that.

1985. Challenger/Sapporo production ended in 1983, so I guess they did precede DSM, and were produced while Mitsu was just a corporate partner and had not formalized things (Chrysler was a 15% shareholder of Mitsu at the time) by forming DSM and building a dedicated plant.

Isn't that the Sapporo?

Or am I missing something...again?
Sapporo was Plymouth, Challenger was Dodge. Nothing different but the name tags. Built by Mitsubishi, or Diamond Star Motors as they were known when working with Chrysler.

My dad owned a Sapporo. I took my driver's license test in it.

IIRC, Challenger had the three "ribs" on the B piller and Sapporo was plain...or my dad's car had a little side light there.

Mercury bodied speedster photo taken in 1923. This car nick named "desert pal" was driven from Los Angeles to New York city in 7 days as a sales promotion. The driver was Frank Gegoux. He was hired by the LA based distributor of The Mercury Body Co. That journey today with interstate highways would be 2800 miles.
