Looking to identify the rear diff that came in my race car. I want to replace the brake shoes and wheel cylinders. It is a squeezed 8.75 with a 742 center section. The drums are 11" and the shoes appear to be 2.5" wide.
Any ideas what Mopar came with those specs?

Sounds like C body shoes. I have seen them with 11 x 2.5"

B-bodies, E-bodies, some C-bodies, F/M/J/R bodies all had 11x2.5" drums as options. Also some vans and trucks. There are also 11x2" and 11x3" versions running around, you have to match the backing plates and drums based on the size (ie, if you have 11x2.5" backing plates you can not use 11x2" drums)

Thanks 72. Any idea which of these cars came with a 742 chunk? I realize it could have been changed out but maybe not.

Nice list! I knew I'd seen them on C body's. So many parts have been changed around over they years. Makes my mind melt.

Heck, my 66 Sat was Frankensteined lol, 1970 K member FMJ body brakes van transmission truck rear end a 1973 340 block but with a steel crank a couple other different modifications I did.
BUT, it was a solid daily driver for years down here in the Tampa Bay Area heat and rain and it was actually fun that wasn't that many years ago either....

742’s were ‘61-‘69 I believe. Which would only cover the C’s on the list above, or maybe some of the B’s or E’s depending on exactly when the cut off was (model year ‘69 vs the actual year, which would cover model year ‘70 too).

But if we’re talking an 8 3/4 rear end that was cut down for a race car that 3rd member could be out of anything. And the brakes could be off of anything for that matter, the 11x2.5’s were a lot more common on the later cars on that list which wouldn’t have had 8 3/4’s at all. A lot of the C-body 8 3/4’s had 11x2’s, at least the couple of C-body 8 3/4’s I pulled from the junk yard did.
