Rear Wiring Harness

I bought what I thought was correct 1971 rear wiring harness. The previous owner did some crappy splices and the original harness was in bad shape.
When I went to connect the new harness, there is an extra connector and the side marker sockets are two wire and not one wire. Original on the left.

The extra connector is the middle close to the taillight plugs. I traced the wires and they go to the side marker sockets and possible a ground for them.

Anyone know what year this harness is for?

Also, if this is a ground for the sidemarkers would it also be sufficient ground for the taillights well?

in pic #1,the harness on the left looks to be a 68 side marker pigtail and bulb. I would contact whitepunk or azmopar about the correct harness. What year is your car?
