Removing Pinned Badges

I need to temporarily remove the "Duster" badge from the tail panel of my 74 Duster. What is the best way to remove it so as not to break the pins?

This is how it appears on the backside. Not sure what the white things are over the pins.

Sometimes the plastic comes out with the emblem. Sometimes they fall out. Mount something to catch the plastic retainers on the inside as you walk the emblem off.

butter knife of frosting spreader as close to the pins as possible and walk it out side to side.
