reverse switch on 69 bcuda

i have a two prong four speed switch for reverse lights, does the switch ground itself through the trans and both prongs are signal wires, or is one prong a ground and other signal. im dumb when it comes to wireing any help would be great

Neither is ground. The backup lights are grounded at the sockets. One the transmission switch, one wire is powered with key in "run" and the other wire feeds back to the lamps.
