I've got an 8 3/4 sure grip rear end with the "741" center in it. I want to put a 4.10 gear in it. But all the catalogs only go as high as 3.73 gear. Am I stuck with this size as the largest I can go? Is there a strength issue with this differential that won't support a higher gear? Is there anybody out there that makes a 4.10 for the "741"??? (can't afford to get a 742 or a 489 chunk at this time)
Thanks for your advice.

Most of the older trucks with standard shift /6's had 410 741's even some V-8's in 4x4's I might have a open chunk 741 410

Call Cass anyway he might have a high set kicking around. The 741 is falling out of favour, compared to the 489, therefore the gear selection has been going down hill the last couple years. I'm running a 741 with 3.91 gears so yes they are out there. Try starting a thread that specifically asks for 3.91 or 4.10 741 gears. You might get some bites.

I'm running a 741 with 4.10's. They are still some out there to be had.
