Just picked up a bottle of Rislone engine oil supplement with zinc treatment. Anyone ever used this when changing their oil? Any good? This was the only zddp additive I could find at the local parts store (Advance Auto). I'm changing my oil in the duster and want to use 10w-40. I plan to use the Rislone as my zddp additive.

I've spoken with several camshaft companies in the past couple of years and the general concensus is that the zinc additive is only needed during break in. I'm sure it won't hurt a thing to run it all the time, though.

I have used Rislone before and have had good results.
Adding zinc was a smart idea on their part.

not an expert but I was told that any older engine with high lift cam, or sits for long periods need the additive.

The additive helps the oil cling to the metal

Because what a cam & lifter change or engine rebuild cost it should be well worth the cost, even if you don't need it

my 2 cents

Would not be a bad idea to use it in ALL engines. The zinc helps prevet wear on wist pins, bearings and piston walls, beside camshafts.

Good to see more companies having zinc products to buy.
