I just picked up a complete 71 360 for real cheap. I am wondering if there is a difference in cranks from 71block to a 74 block?? Found out my 74 block is junk and rotating assembly is already balanced and ready to drop in.

No problem there the same, did you have it internally or externally balanced, not that it will make any difference with the block but you will have to use the correct balancer and flywheel or flex plate and converter. Webby.

It was externally balanced. Its going to the machine shop to get decked, bored/hone and line honed. Thanks

the early 71-2ish block is machined for a smaller flange diameter thrust bearing. the 73ish+ blocks are machined for a larger diameter flange area bearing. so completely interchangeable blocks, just can't use the later thrust bearing on early blocks
