I have a 68 Road Runner housing, 68/69 741 case, and 68-70 B body axles

Do I need to use shims to set the axle depth or whatever it's called? the housing has a TON of shims on each side flange..

Also I read the center section is sealed from the outer axle bearings and they require grease? Is this right?

well if you are rebuilding the axle you need dialindicators or venires to measure the thinkness of all the shims together and make sure you put that back where you got it from. I am just touching on this beacuse there are a lot of tools you will need to finish this . you might look on you tube and find a vid of a rebuild that might make it more clear

I plan on having it setup by a professional but want to know for piece of mind..
