So I was taking apart a B-body seat today and when I removed the seat track there was this paint smear on the top, Is this factory and what does it mean?

They could have been bundled as a pair and that color meant example 68 Roadrunner bucket driver side.

I thought maby it was the color of car it was going into

Could of been do you know the color of the car those came from? You said B-body right? Reason I think it was assembly line ID was that there were what 3 sets of tracks that they used in one line. Say for example 68 Roadrunner/Satellite/GTX all 2 doors and then there was a Satellite 4 door. So that makes 3 sets of tracks right? Driver and passenger side buckets and bench seats. I am sure it would get awfully confusing with bins full of tracks. If they marked them with different colors then trained monkey's could tell between the 3. Just a thought.
