Just wonder if the final gear shift linkage on the steering column can be removed with out causing any problems. Car if now floor shift so is no longer required and has minimal clearance on the headers. Would rather find out before trying to remove.

I had a molested duster once that was column shift and the guy before me went to a manual trans. When he tried to take that all off it loosened all the bushings in the column and it didn't steer at all. BUT that guy did a hack job and I'm sure you can take it all apart safely. I run a manual but left the column shifter there because I might go back to auto one day.

Couldn't find a manual power steer column so went for the next best cut the bloody thing off 10 minutes with small cutter all sorted no more hitting the headers.

Mine doesn't have clearance problems... What kind of headers are you using? I just have a set of hookers.
