Hello everyone.
I'm looking for front tires for my '70 Duster. I have 195/65/14's right now that I don't like. They don't look right on the car. I gottem because they were FREE! Anyway, Should I get 205/70/14's or 215/70/14's? I have some really nice polished US slots on the car so don't want to go to 15 inch wheels.

Thanks!

If your Duster is a six cylinder or a 318 car, then you have the correct size tire from the factory on it. The Duster 340's came with E70-14 Goodyear Custom Wide Tread Polyglas bias ply tires or in today's metric terms 205/70R14, the r meaning radial.

The '70 Manual said most of these came with a C78-14 which is equivalent to a P185/75R14. I had that size for a spare for many years and its basically the perfect size that fits in the spare tire well too. (OD 24.92")

P195/65R14 is a pretty short tire. (23.92")

You'll have to figure out how wide those rims are. Minimum width rim for a 205/70/14 is 5".

A 215/70/14 would be 25.9" tall. That's probably going to cause you issues with tire height if everything is stock.

Thanks for the info. It's a slant six car but I don't want it to look like a slant six car.

Thank you. I think I want something with a little more tread on the ground than a 185. I'm leaning toward 205/70/14's. The rims are 6 inches wide so I think the 205's will fit those pretty well.
