super stock spring question

My 002 and 003 springs sit level as well. They don't have a lot of miles on them so that may change but for now they are level.

the 002-003 springs that were made in America, before being made in mexico, always set higher on the pass side. they were built for putting more pressure on the pass side tire . you put the mexico springs on a high h.p. big tire a body that really hooks up, and the pass side springs are bad about bending the top leaf. I`ve got a set of them that came off of one of Jim Hales barracudas.
you guys that are running two drivers side springs (003) , do they hook up well at the dragstrip ?

I think they might be setting level because they are made in mexico, and not near the spring we ran back in the day. they were made in America then. I have a set of 002-003 springs I`m not going to use, and the right (002) spring is weak, right in front of the rear spring eye. by the way, they are for sale, w/ the appropriate new imperial shocks. cheaper because of the weak spring, if any body is interested.

I picked up two "003" springs for my Dart this week from the local Dodge dealer... wanted the car level so figured that two of the same springs would fit the bill.

Who knew that two "003" springs could be different arcs? Guess I'll put the tall one on the passenger side.... :wtf:

Cars with SS springs aren't off by a ton. 1/2" or so usually. Enough to notice the car sitting at an angle, but nothing crazy. And I stand by my analysis of those pictures, two of them obviously are not on level ground.

As far as your car, who knows? The MP springs made in Mexico don't exactly set the bar really high from a quality control standpoint, you may just have a flatter than "normal" passenger spring. And of course, 47 year old unibodys aren't known for their exacting quality control either. Nothing magical about off kilter unibodys or less than stellar MP springs.

I still wouldn't recommend SS springs for someone that wants their car to sit level side to side in the back, regardless of a few exceptions. And I don't doubt that there are exceptions exactly for the reasons I already posted, there are no guarantees with 40+ year old unibody cars. But I would still expect most SS spring equipped cars to sit higher on the passenger side, that's how they're designed.

I hit the agree button, I have run more than one set , they always set higher in the right rear /. Could it b that those cars are stock bodied cars , and twisting/flexing , giving
in to the extra pressure of the 002 spring ?
Or because they are made in mexico , "the originals weren`t'', that they are not putting down the pressure that the orig. did .?

I can only tell you that the 3000 lb Super Stock springs (P3412002 passenger side and P3412003 driver side) I just installed on my '69 Dart GTS last weekend have exactly the same height on both sides (within 1/16").
be the first ones i ever saw ...

Wow!

Well, my cars sat level.

Ducking and running....
your car could be already twisted if the frames arent tied , and youd never know it , or your front drivers side torsion bar could be adjusted higher than the other , thats the way we leveled the car , whch put more pressure on the right rear .
I ran more than one set of 002-003 springs for 14yrs on high h.p. hemi car , and ""all" of them sat higher on the pass side , but that was when they were made in America ,I forget who made them for Chrysler back then .
It was to put more pressure on the pass side tire ....

73 Duster, I had around 4 inches clearance. I don't know how you all only gained 1/2 inch. I removed and went -1 cal tracs. Car was RAKED stupidly and I hated it!
