All years Sure Grip differential, as well as 1964 and up open differentials, thrust block was the same size.

1963 and earlier open differential thrust block was a different size.

Whether it was thicker up to 1963 for open, or the opposite, I'm finding conflicting info.

I get what a thrust block is, but have never put my eyes on any.

I want to remove the original Sure-Grip from my 1964 b-body.

I want to replace it with the open center section from my 1962 b-body.

Housing flange to flange:
'62-'63= 53 1/4" (And '64 Max Wedge)
'64 = 55 5/8" (Exc. Max Wedge)
Unable to locate axle lengths, but assuming 64 is longer.
Both are tapered axles, but that should not matter.

Can I do this swap?
Does the option exist to do this swap by changing the thrust block size?

For those who like pics and rational, the wagon is getting the hardtop's rear and big meats.
