I've only had the car since november of 2015 so I dont know what has been done to the car. It has a 727 torque and a 8 3/4 rear end. When I put it in reverse it makes a big thump and it lunges backward, and same when I go into drive. Even when the brakes are applied it moves kinda like getting hit by another car at very low speed. What do I need to look at/for. If you need more info let me know. Thanks

How high is the idle??? The higher the idle the harder it goes into gear!! Only needs to be 600-800!! Just thinking out loud here!
Every old mopar I ever had had the clunk when put in gear. Any more than that I bet it's idling too high.

Is that in neutral or in gear? If in neutral it's ok. If in gear that's pretty darn high if the torque converter is a stock unit

Yep. Verify the correct idle speed & check the adjustment of the throttle pressure linkage.

I understand it is at idle. I said is it 700 rpm in gear or in neutral before you drop it in gear?
