I need to do some tuning with my distributor and need some help. At the moment my initial is 12* and total is 34*. I am sure it needs around 18* initial but I have some weird going on I need to figure out first. When I rev the engine and it gets to the 34* total, if I rev it on up the timing will fade. My balancer goes to 50*. I see nothing after the 34*, all the numbers disappear. Could my timing light not be working with the MSD at that point?

I aint much help with tuning, but rubber on balancer pooched?
Not sure. When I slowly open the throttle I can see it climb to 34* then if I slowly keep going up it will stay there, then suddenly it just gets blurry.
Brand new Pioneer balancer.
Dist shaft wobbly?
When its blurry does it run "good"?

No problem. Maybe make a random mark on it to see if it "shows up"? If that makes sense??

I think MSD is multi-spark up to 3000 RPM. Your initial timing may be set, seeing the second spark that is more retarded than the first, when it stops, the first spark may be more advanced, and beyond focus.
