timing revisited

Hey, if I disconnect my vacuum advance unit,can I run more initial advance? I was thinking as long as I adjusted the mechanical so there is the same amount of total advance and it will still start I could/should .Thanks

If you weld the slots to limit the total mechanical advance you can still run the vac advance as well. I have an MP dist with 18 intital 33 total mechanical and more from the vac advance near 50 total as well.
