Tips for installing transmission?

Like Shadango said put the front of the car on jack stands. When you're ready place the trans on the floor jack. I put a piece of 1" x 6" wood between jack and trans. I roll the trans in close, jack it up to get it close, then crawl underneath and end up using my legs to move around the jack a little while lining the trans up to the engine.

I can also use my leg to push down on the jack handle to raise the jack a little. Sometimes I get it too high, then have to crawl out, lower the jack a little, and start over.

You got great tips on this thread. Use them and ask any questions...it's not a bad job.
