HELP!I was taking off some headers on a 318, and when I took out the rear pass side header bolt ,anti-freeze started pouring out. What the hell?Is that big trouble?

Suppose to. That bolt goes through the cooling channel of the head. Front one also.

If it is a big block, they will all do that. Small block, only a few of the bolts go into water.

If your headers will allow replace them with studds then this won't happen again.

use some kind of a thread sealer or high temp silicone when putting the bolts in or you will end up with leaks.

Yep that is normal. Put a stud in it if you can and still get the headers on. Should just need to do the very front and back ones.

Thanks guys!! What a relief!

Not to worry, SB heads were designed that way. Don't ask me why though....

Eddy heads have blind holes to prevent having a mess. Studs work on stock heads, but sometimes there just isn't room to get the headers in and out with studs.

Drain your coolant, dry out the holes and use either liquid teflon or high temp RTV and you'll be good to go.
