The little chart the KB pistons sends with the pistons has me figuring the top ring gap at .030". This seems excessive, what top ring gaps are you engine builders using out there for a street/drag engine, 4.030 bore with kb hyper pistons? Maybe I am figuring wrong.

Use KB's top ring end gap measurements.....they usually seem larger but they need to be ran like that. If not you will have major problems. KB pistons are good but they get a bad rap cause people don't run enough end gap and the ring ends butt and cause major damage.

The KB pistons require more end gap because the top ring runs hotter than in most other pistons. The actual gap at temperature is not any different than with other pistons.

Yup, what they said. KB specs much larger gaps in most cases..Always follow the piston manufacturer's spec, unless you're running a special ring package.
