Here's what I did, when you have a winch disappear, you go a different route than to solid mount it in the open!

Not sure what you guys are pulling up on trailer, M1 Abrams tanks? That dinky HF winch pulls up C bodies with 2 locked up tires on my trailer.
Works in any 2" trailer receiver too? , I like it .
Hi Rob, how in 'ell are ya? Only thing I have against the smaller ones is when you are haulin around 3/4T 4x4 parts trucks LOL. My HF the drum is too small and you must REALLY watch it for level wind. Here's what I did, when you have a winch disappear, you go a different route than to solid mount it in the open!

Man that is a wide box, how do you back that thing up into tight places with out jack-knifing it into the truck?I mounted a tool box the front frame rails with square u bolts through a 3/8” sandwich plate and welded the 6”x4” winch mount to that. Then bolted the HF 9000lb winch in the tool box to the mount. Cut a hole in the back, mount the fairlead, and ran the cable. Secure and out of the weather. Has worked perfectly for years. Since these pictures I’ve added a battery and I charge it with the trailer plug. And some lights.

I know you won’t believe me when I tell you, so I’ll probably have to do it and take pics, but I can jackknife it damn near 90 degrees before it hits. I do use the hole furthest back (there are two) on my hitch but that’s it. It just works.Man that is a wide box, how do you back that thing up into tight places with out jack-knifing it into the truck?
