Im trying to find out what car my motor came out of. I have a 1969 340 mopar motor with J heads on it. I have 3 sets of numbers the one is 2780930-340-2, next is CR208263, and last is FW340P31120276. it also has 11-1969 340 stamped on it. From what ive gathered its out of a duster but dont know for sure. Could anyone tell me whats this out of or point me in the direction of where to go. Thanx Sincerly, jeremy1971duster.

the casting number you have is a standard 340 engine, check to see if there is a vin number stamped on the lower drivers side of the engine block, there is a flat machined pad, near where the starter would be located, it's a 1969, and it should have a vin number, or it may have been a warranty block, which would not have any numbers, this should help to determine what car it came out with.

It's a 1970, 340.

F = 1970

W = Windsor Plant

340 = 340 cid.

P = Premium Fuel

3112 = Tuesday, February 3, 1970

0276 = 276th built

I have a 340 in the garage with the vin stamped down by the oil pan rail...how can I translate the vin to what it is out of? I know vin on engine matches the last 8 of the car vin, but the 1st few digits of car vin decipher the model/price class...how can you do that with an engine vin??

Thanks
