It be a lot cooler if you did...
My weekend started on Thursday mid morning on a sad note as, we had to put down our family dog. He was 13 so, he had a good run. My daughter moved out a couple years back and she lives alone so, she took him with her as she loved the **** out of that dog and, I can say the feeling was mutual. I left work early to be there as he drifted off peacefully and to console my daughter.
I had taken Friday off already to go to a big cruise in at Monmouth Illinois. This event brings about 2,000 to 3,000 cars and around 20,000 people. It's a 140 mile round trip for me and, I drove my 71 Challenger and, a friend drove my Duster. We had a great time and it was a great day.
Saturday morning I got up and took the Challenger to a local cars and coffee thing where I hung out for about 2 hours. Later the wife and I took the Challenger to the local theater and watched a movie.
Sunday I fired up the Duster and a friend and I went to see an older friend of ours who has a large collection of Mopar cars, parts, and memorabilia. My friend is buying a car from him and, I was able to score an old dealership sign insert for a great price. I will have to go back to pick it up as it's around 6' long and 3' tall and, no way it was fitting in the Duster.
From Thursday afternoon until Monday I was able to drive nothing newer than 1975...and that's a good finish to a weekend that started out not so good.
If you live within a few hours of Monmouth Illinois you owe it to yourself to go next year. This event is awesome!!! Mark your calenders for the 1st Friday in August every year. Here are a couple pictures from Monmouth this year.
