Using an electric fan as a pusher

Hi everyone. Is anyone using an electric fan as a pusher on a 72 Valiant or Dart? I have a good 16 in. fan but it's close to 4 inches thick and it hits the support for the hood latch. Would like to know if one off another car has worked for you. Summit has one that's only 2.25 in. thick but only puts out 755 cfm and I don't think that would be enough help for my 360. I have a 22 in. radiator with a shroud. Thanks for any input.
 
go to your local junk yard and check out almost any make late model car as they have all sizes and thickness for $15-25 for the a/c most all them are pushers too
