Weird Intake

Bought this from a member and just got it yesterday. Take a look at the heat riser. Also, it is a LD4B but the 4 is missing. Doesn’t appear to be machined off. I’ve never seen one like this.

Edelbrock cast them for Mopar with the Mopar part number. They were available over the counter at your local Mopar dealer. The castings were not all that good. They were sand cast and often times some the letters or numbers were missing.
 
But it's one of the best 318 port outlet manifolds ever made to use on a 273 or 318. Put your favorite carburetor in 500 to 750 cfm range according to how mild or wild your combination is and run the wee water out of it.
 
Oh, I’ve had many and I know about it’s over the counter status. It’s the treaded hole over the heat riser port that throws me. It’s not a mod. The hole was cast. Of course I’ll insure the mating surface are true and will mate up to the engine.

No idea why the hole in the heat passage. Mine is plugged.

Only stove pipe carbs (AFBs) during that era were on the hemis.
