Playing around in the basement today, and about 2 weeks ago I happened across the old "K car" cluster out of my Grampa's wrecked K car which I pulled the engine out of, maybe around 2000 I thought maybe some of the cluster could be used, like for a voltmeter. Now the cluster DOES HAVE a voltmeter, so obviously THAT one might be used---if it can be saved and mounted

But the voltmeter operates BACKWARDS, and I'm not liking that too much

(One problem is the chinsy construction, and the needle must be "popped" off the shaft or cut off, either of which might ruin the delicate meter parts)

Anyhow I powered the thing up and INSTANTLY noticed that the fuel and temp gauges drove hard to "C" and "E." This told me one thing.........that these two meter movements are what are called "bridge" type meters, and WILL NOT (so far as I know) make any kind of voltmeter

"Bridge" meters have been used mostly be GM and they have one advantage---they are not very affected by voltage, so they are more accurate as system voltage changes

Anyhow, LOL onwards we go to other "pastures"
