So we just got finished replacing the slant 1 bbl set up with the 4 bbl Offy set up but none of the 4bbl air cleaners I have fit, mostly what I have are the large dual snorkels and I even have a M/P air cleaner, they are all too big and we are running the factory a/c that is what the housing hits, so what are you 4 bbl six guys using?

Air cleaner from a Diplomat 4 bbl 318 car might be the ticket. It won't be pretty but it should have the 'dents' to clear the A\C compressor.

If you want fancy and have little space, consider a "top-hat" plenum type (forgot exact name). You see chromed ones on ebay. A chrome duct runs to the air cleaner, which could be all the way in front "cold air inlet". Some have 2 air ducts. The Magnum V-8's have similar, but ugly plastic and I think a different size at their throttle body.

yeah, not a bad idea, I did a little surfing on e bay today, didn't see what you were referring to but I know what you mean, I did see some smaller o/d air cleaners though that might work, never bought anything off e bay before though so a may search my local Craigslist first and see if there is anything similar

This was from a Cordoba, the second pictures are a 60's slant top with a part's store 9'' chrome 4 bbl air cleaner(about $20) They both fit under the hood well, the smaller one may work better for you.

No, that one is a black slant six with the nipple, Cleaner air package and is about 2'' larger in diameter (The chrome is the 273 Hypo) than the smaller slant six with out the nipple.I can't tell you how many of those are thrown away all the time. The one with the nipple will take a four barrel 10'' base too.

If you want to run a larger stock filter you can cut the 1 barrel base open and fit the 9'' 4 barrel base with some JB weld. Me I'm cheap and like to use factory stuff that gets thrown out.

The base is from the cheapie chrome 9'' in the first photo #9

if your real cheap you can cut and flip your original base as well.
For pizzazz you can chrome your air cleaner then put a new Super 225 sticker on it.

wow!, nice job!, but I don't think I would call that being cheap, I don't know what your chroming prices are like down there but up here you could buy two complete air cleaners for the price of chroming a lid, lol, anyway I like your idea, if I cant find what we want we may just go that route after all the 1bbl stuff is just going to the swap meet in May any way, thanks for the pictures and step by step

50 Bucks invested and it's the stock air cleaner so it looks like it belongs.

A shitty Chinese air cleaner is about 30 bucks for comparison purposes.

I prefer to reuse my old parts like other do.
