What are those tiny freeze plugs for?

I usually tap the driver with a small hammer to upset the threads a bit.

They stop up holes. That's what they're for.

Hey Tony, while were on the subject, how the heck do you get the oil galley screw in plugs out. Mine have a square head that nothing I have will fit into it.

I'm thinking I'd just take an old 3\8's extension to the grinder and make my own. Or grind down a large hex key.

Tried that...broke almost instantly....extensions aren't hard enough.

Those screw-in plugs at the back are 5/16" square...use a pipe plug socket. I just bought one ($4.00) to get the plugs outta my 360 before sending it to the machine shop.

A propane torch is your friend when taking out the oil galley plugs in the back of the block.

Dorman part # 563-023. Found them at O'Reilly. 2 bucks each for brass.

I took a 3 " long bolt and ground down the threaded end square to fit them.

Where in communist Md are you located? Ive got some brass ones for the heads that you can have if its worth your trip to Glen Burnie......

Why not just grind an old extension.

Or should I say a new extension, if you have an old one its probably the best one you have
