I came across a msd chip type revlimiter and am wondering rpm should i set it at.

I know i will probably never use it, but i am going to install it none the less.

My engine is a 72 318 long block with new oil pump, double roller timing chain, tensioner, dougs/ pypes duals, eddy performer and 600cfm, and trailbeast hei system.

Tranny is the stock 904 with deep pan.

What rpm would you rev limit this engine at?

Keep it interesting, 3100.

If it's stock cam and springs 5k. You can also make a few 2nd gear runs and see what rpm it stops pulling.

If its not stock I would be conservative and set it at 6k. Thats what ill set my rev n nator icm at for my 340 when it finally gets here lol.

What rpm range is your cam good to?

The cam in my 340 is good up to 6200 so reving at anything over than 6000 is useless in my setup.

I rarely ever shift around 5k anyway even when im in it.

All depends on cam and conditions of the internals

If a stock smallblock could spin fast enough to need a limiter they would all be blown up already.

Stock 318's with 4bbl and headers would be about 5k. I shifted my last one at 4800, but no headers. It was a complete stock 318 that I added a 4bbl, dual exhaust.
