What the difference in between truck and car overdrive 4 speed bellhousing??
 
you can use an earlier bellhousing with the 4.80 hole by turning down the 5.12 front bearing retainer to fit-no problem
 
I don't believe that's entirely true.

Turning the one I have would get into the bolts.

There are two different bolt circles.
 
I had one machined to fit the OD bearing retainer & it worked fine
 
Umm interesting use 4.80 bellhousing? What the part number off of?
 
there are 2 bolt circles for the front bearing retainers - 3.70" and 4.16". the 3.70" had ODs of 4.35" and 4.80". the 4.16" had ODs of 4.80" and 5.12". I turned down the 5.12" retainer to 4.80" to fit my Lakewood bellhousing no problem. It was very close to the bolt holes. ran it hard for years-no problem. do not know stock small block 4.80" bellhosing part number. run a wanted ad
