3.23 works well with a big block w/474 purple shaft cam and a 2600 stall. This gives me the best of both worlds......:burnout:

and ability to cruise...:glasses7:

Originally 2.94 open. Ran 3.55 sure-grip for many years. Running 3.91 sure-grip for quite a while now. Would like to have 3.21 for long distance driving, but with a 8.25, its not that easy.

3.23's are in. 275/60R15 (used to be 3.91 235/60R15) Way better cruising.

3.91 sure grip 489 case in cuda with --275/60/15 nitto drag radial.

4.56 with a Detroit Locker 489 case in coronet --28 inch tall hoosier quick time pro.

I have a spool with 4.56 gears in a 4.89 case that's looking pretty good for the cuda.

4:50's in 8-3/4 sure grip.
Have not driven the beast yet.
I am going over the whole car first as I recently purchased it but, it should be pretty awesome with the 4 speed and 383. :)

3:55's in a 489 case 8 3/4 with a cone style sure grip.
I'm really happy with them, it's a good overall ratio for what i use the car for.

My new 8 1/4 has 3.21 gears, is that not normal? It has the tag still attached to the cover. My old 7 1/4 had 2.76 gears which were a lot better for hwy driving. Not sure I like the 3.21, but they are fun around town or country driving.

For my gears, I prefer Spacely Sprockets over Cogswell Cogs....

I have two sets and change them depending on what I am doing with the car. 3.55's for cruising and 2.76's if I am going on a highway trip. The 3.55's with 25 inch tall tires is just a bit much for the highway, but I love them in the city!

4.30's 8 3/4 detroit locker 742 case..29.5x15.5 MT SP pro's..looking to find some 3.73-3.91's in 742-489 case...just need the gears would trade mine less than 200 miles like new[richmond] gonna tag it and cruise some..actually those gears with those tires aint bad at all to cruise now but I wanna be able to go longer distances and I only have a 9 gal alum fuel cell...oh its in a 71 dart 440 727..even with the relocation and narrowed rear I only have less than 3/8''clearence from tire to outside fender lip but hey I got em in there and it's badazz all tucked in,prob will fold the inside lip flat for better ease of mind...

My Dart has 3:55 sure grip, Challenger 3:23 open, Road Runner has 3:23s open

3:23 in both the 68 GTS and the 70 Cuda. Fuel is already expensive enough !!

Currently 2.94:1 with 25.5 diameter tire and 4speed.
Going to 4.56:1 with 28.0 diameter tire. Should be fun
with 3.09 first in the 4speed. May run a 30.0 tire for
street driving.

4.56's

Great highway gear and fuel milage.

Edit: better add I have a GVOD before somebody get's their panties in a bunch.

3.55 in my hardtop and 3.91's in my vert. The 3.91's really scream rpm's on the freeway. Really seems like the 3.55's aren't much better. I need a gear vendors bad.
