I have a 1973 A body /6 904 tranny.

am putting in a small block 318

is there a difference between A body /6 904 and a A body 318 904

if so what is the difference and what must I do??

thanks

bellhousing of /6 does not match bellhousing of 318....

Thanks

going to get a 727 next week

A 727 is generally not needed for a 318. Just robs precious power and requires you to shorten the driveshaft and get a different output yoke. Why not just get a small block 904? It'll bolt right up without any modifications.

Keep your /6 904 though, all the internal stuff will interchange.

You can never be too rich, too handsome, too smart or have too many spare parts.

The small block 904 is different from the /6 904. The internal parts can be interchanged but the guts from the /6 transmission are lighter duty.

It is a common thing among /6 racers to swap v8 904 guts into a /6 904 case.
