Is there anyone else on now that can answer a question for me? Is an aluminum driveshaft safety loop legal in NHRA. There is a guy on Ebay with one for sale. Bidding ends in 7 hours. I thought steel was required.

I dont think the rules state what they need to be made from.

If you do have a driveshaft problem what would you prefer your safety loop to be made of. I spend half of my work week repairing or replacing damaged aluminum pieces on sports bleachers. Light yes,strong no. I'll stick with steel.

I'm reading the N.H.R.A. rule book ..it states "steel" and mounted no more then 6" from the front u-joint...
