Ye olde shop vise restoration advice.

I picked this old Prentiss 6" swivel vise up a few miles from here last week via Craigslist at a pretty good price. The jaws were missing, so I did an internet search and found this site;

Bench Vise Restoration - Search Results for "Prentiss 181"

The owners name is Kevin & he had not heard of the Prentiss No. 181 before, but he knew that some Prentiss jaws interchange across vise models from past experience.

He sent a diagram with measurements that matched what I had exactly, so I ordered them & they came in today - they are a perfect fit.

Very fast, friendly service too.

What is clamped in the vise, stays in the vise. ;-)

Look on The Garage Journal forum. The BEST info and resource about vises (and everything else shop/garage related) you'll ever find.
Those guys will dig your old Prentiss.

Rock crusher! Those jaws look like they would hurt stuff
