My son's 01 Dodge 1500 needs a rear end or rear end rebuild. Bearings are toast. Sounds like a dry meat grinder on steroids.
He found a guy an hour away with an entire rolling frame from a 2000 1500. Guaranteed the rear diff is good. Says open diff and it's the correct ratios.
So we take the car trailer, het there and open the thing up, he gave the guy $350, we pushed it onto the trailer and away we went.
Turns out to be a limited slip rear and is so clean inside, we believe it was rebuilt before this guy got it for the cab and bed.
Spent all yesterday afternoon swapping it out.
It was 48* and windy as he'll, so we shoe-horned it in the garage.
