Lots of vendors out there and wondering how should I buy from and who should I stay away from? I know I shouldn't buy from TCI but is there anyone else? I have called PTC and Dynamic and both want $1200 for a built 727. Who else should I be looking at and a what cost?

Copre racing transmissions, if you want to order one.
Iv'e hear there customer servive is very good.
The major draw back of ordering one is if you have a problem they want you to ship it back out on your dime, they will dissasemble and inspect.
Most of the time the customer will lose, and you pay again.
Sorry to say that, but i have seen it happen. Not all shops are like this so do you research.:glasses7:

That's why I'm asking this... Cope is now on my list lol

I have a good rebuilder in Detroit. I buy cores and let him rebuild them.

If there is a problem with a trans done by me, I do stand behind the trans, with the shipping cost, that depends on the time line and what the problem may be. If the trans is not right from the get go, or shortly after the install, In most cases but not all, I covered the shipping. This rarely happens cause I do ALL the transmission building at my shop, last year I one had one trans shipped back, for a issue, and I covered the shipping. I can not control everything once the trans leaves my shop. I also know that I am human, and I can make a mistake, I do my very best to build the trans as if it is going into my own car. I also know the my customers are human too, and I really do my best to build a strong, long lasting transmission
But don’t take my word for it, do your homework and see what others have to say, that have done biz with me.
Thanks John Cope

Nice John.. thx for the the response. I see u charge a core charge when most dont? Any particular reason? I'm not beating u up over it just curious?

I have a lot of walk in customers that have a trans that they want built, so I do not built in to the price of a trans, the core charge.
I supply the core its $150.00
you supply the core its Zero.

Joe at Transact of Indy. No Core Charge. He built me a stout transmission to go behind my Twin Turbo Motor. I just got it about 1 week or so ago. Pro Billet Transbrake, billet front drum Race Clutches and all the go fast goodies. He puts the transmission on his trans dyno before shipment and puts it through its paces and adjusts everything making sure it is good to go before he ships it out.

Which stage did u get? I see on his site it says plus $150 core

my 904 was built by chuck lofgren of lofgren auto specialties it works real good and a good price

From my personal experience I have purchased two 727's from two different builders.

First tranny: Pro Street Rev Manual from John Cope Absolutely NO problems. Put it in my 68 GTS

Second tranny: Purpose built race tranny from ProFormance (Dynamic) for my 69 Dart race car.
Trouble right off the bat. Bad Servo (no second gear) replaced servo with a new one supplied by builder, fixed problem but not before the second gear band was shot. Had local guy put in new band. Then high gear clutch pack came apart. After that I put my stocker with a rev manual valve body in it. Ran the rest of the year with it.

I've looked at Transact of Indy. Unfortunately no extra money.

Fraley's Transmission in Pontiac who I use since I stop pulling trans out with 4 jack stands, its local and the place is cool fair prices and he-Tim-does stand behind their work.

If you going to ship the trans and install yourself, I would go with the 727 trans just cause its more HD and can be tweet jut right on the shifts for the street

I called both and they didn't return my call so they lost my business.

Slightly O/T, but is there anyone in the Pacific Northwest that a fabo member recommends?
