Enter the Hellephant.

LOVE what Mopar has been doing since FCA started and LOVE that 68 “Super Charger”!!

Now to go see how much a kidney sells for on the black market...

Car and engine aside, I think the whole Hell-whatever is a name fail.
I would not buy any of it just because of the name.
(But that's me).

Hellcat. Sounds like a Mercury or a Buick.
Oh, we wanted it to sound like a WW2 Airplane.
I'd call it a War Hawk before I went to Hell.
(OR ANY THING HAWK)

Just two other ideas off the top of my pointy little head instead of Hellcat.

Why not play off a Road Runner or Super Bird?
Merlin. (It's a bird or a wizard. Take your pick).

Why not play off of the B Body and Super Bee?
Wasp.
You could do a lot with that logo.
Or even Yellow Jacket.

An Elephant is fine for a cute engine nick name.
It may be powerful, but an elephant is slow.
Name fail.
Hellephant?
Sounds like they couldn't make up their mind.

Ten bucks says that MOST of the guys that don't like the Charger are old, fat, gray and set in their ways. Guys like that do not like anything new except cell phones and Viagra.

(Just messing around....I am getting a bit gray too)

I agree with you I was ok with the Demon name just because it's a dodge classic name. But the hellcat and hellephant this **** is just stupid. Dodge needs new advertising administration.

I'm not old but I am old school I think they need to just stop trying to make new cars off the old ones. I like my old cars classic and my new cars new. If I want an old car i want it to look feel smell drive sound like an old car. Same with new cars. You cant just take a 4 doors sedan and call it a charger lol that being said I do like the new chargers just not the name they need to call it something else! now they are taking a 68 charger adding a ugly front and rear nascar spoiler and fender flares and calling it new car? that a 50 year old design with fender flares.

Sweet motor and sweet Charger. They bought it from some guy in Michigan and did all the upgrades. The taillights are 5 inch exhaust tips. Bet it sounds wicked standing behind it.

Some of you seem to think this is a new car they are promoting? Its a 68 Charger built for Sema to show off this engine, it's a one off build guys, relax.

A 1000 horse crate motor from Mopar, and all I hear is bitching!
I can't afford it either, but jeeze!
This is exactly why it's not a Gen II!
There no sense in trying to cater to the old school Mopar crowd who only want more for less, but these new guys coming up will eat it up! THESE are the days, at least for them! As much as I hate to say it, the performance of muscle cars from the 60's and 70's couldn't hold a candle to what they are doing now.

Believe me, I am also looking in my own mirror when I tell you this, but facts are facts. If you can stand back and look at it, it's pretty friggen cool!

I can afford it.
But then again, what would I do with it?
My 60s and 70s cars can't hold that engine either.
Not and stay in one piece.

I’m going in the old camp on this one. The wheel/tire combo looks too out of proportion and while I imagine it’s a pretty quality build, it looks pretty thrown together to me. The Hellephant name is pretty stupid also and adriver nailed it in his comments.

If they weren’t trying to appeal to the older Mopar guys, they would have revealed this in a newer car custom package. Having said that, it is totally unfair to compare the new stuff with the old stuff. The technology is just incredible now and it’s really cool seeing all of this new stuff coming from Mopar. My ship has sailed on the new stuff and admittedly, I’m satisfied with the Mopar Performance of earlier days. I’ll salute this with a healthy respect for the newer generations of products.

Some have hazarded educated guesses.
I'm assuming it's not a "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" price.
I did not see a price in the release info.
Affordable and usable are two different things.

Let's work up a vin diagram of the two concepts.

LOL, I`m older , not fat , a little gray , wellll , but I kinda like it. Would love to have the engine, whatever they call it, but $$$$$ .
Was disappointed in them giving one to a rich person !!
They should have given it to me , I`ve been mopar a lot longer than the worm !! LOL

I DON`T KNOW ABOUT THAT, WHAT WOULD A 426 DO W/ A SUPERCHARGER ON IT W/ THE REFINEMENTS IN MACHINING NOW ?
Wouldn`t have to be a fuel engine either> top fuel / funny car . 1000 h.p. would be relatively easy to get out of a 426 w/ a blower on pump gas. Heck u can get that w/o a blower if u have a mind to !--And the coin !!

I agree KnuckleDuster! Mopar knocks it out of the park once again with something that blows everyone else out of the water and all you hear is bitching over some ridiculous “reasons”!
We get the gen 3 Hemi “it’s not a real Hemi! Whaa!”
In 06 we get the first rwd muscle car from Mopar “it’s a 4 door! Whaaa!”
In 08 we get the Challenger “it’s heavy! Whaaa!”
We get the hellcat “it’s heavy! The wheels are too big! The name is dumb! Whaa!”
We get the demon “it’s not a real demon! The hood and flares are dumb! Whaa!”
Now we get a fricken ONE THOUSAND horsepower SUPERCHARGED 426 HEMI designed for pre-76 muscle cars and they pay homage to the original “Elephant” and what do we hear? “The name is dumb! It’s too expensive! WHAAAA!!!!”

Next thing you know we’ll be back to nothing but fwd econoboxes and everyone will be bitching about not having a rwd muscle car.

GEEZ!!!

Ok, there’s my rant for the month of October...

SAD BUT TRUE !!!

If the car in some fashion makes it to production, it's better than the current 4 door version. Which, like others have said, should be badged a Coronet.
As usual, some like it, some don't. Shocker.

Read release is next year 2019, est. $19,800 - $2,000 for electrics and then some probably.
That’s not just incredibly terrible seein as it’s not that much more than a Hellcrate or a Gen 2 crate engine for that matter.
