My 65 Valiant before I converted it to V8. It went mid 19s.

My wife's 96 granVoyager 3.3 with over 300,000 kms on it. I cant remember what it ran in the 1/8, but it was deadly consistent. No sportsman class at the local track so I ran it in..... and won pro class that weekend.

There was a guy at our local track years ago that ran one of the square body dodge caravans he ran slow but won his class multiple weekends because it was so darn consistent.

The slowest I ever ran was in my dart when it had the slant 6 it ran mid 12s in the 1/8th so probably high 19s or low 20s in the 1/4. To make it worse one weekend my car broke and I still wanted to race so I took my 4 wheeler and my 85 dodge ram. They were both faster than my dart lol. My truck went 12.20 and my four wheeler went 10.5 it could have went faster but I got scared at the line it was hooking and bringing the wheels up.

I think between the slants, the 170 would be tough to beat because of its short stroke. It gets spinning way faster.

The most I ever had to put a car out was in 1975. I ran a G/gas Camero I dialed 10.65 and had to run a 65 Malibu wagon with a 6 cyl. that dialed low 19's. Seems like he was about 10 ft from the finish line before my tree went green.

My 67 Dart with a 273 auto ran 16.20s. There was a guy back in the day at Inyokern drag strip that had an early 80s Ford Fairmont 4 cylinder. He was a 3 time Bracket 4 track champion. He would run 22.50s all day long. I have only seen him lose a round once. ( my buddy in his 69 Dart 318 put him on the trailer running 15.30s).
Had another friend running 19s in her daily driver economy car. I would laugh. Watching from the starting line you could hear Bad Religion playing on her tape deck and she was rocking out as she pulled up to the line.

My personal slowest car (under full power) was my Barracuda with a mostly stock 318 in Colorado...it ran 16.5.

The slowest car I have had to race against also happened in Colorado (early 2000's). A guy entered his tow vehicle because his race car broke...so I had to race against a F350 dually. My Barracuda was a little slower back then (360/nitrous), I dialed 11.1 and the truck dialed 19.55. I think he was close to half track when I got the tree. I ran him down, but I broke out...I hit the stripe at 120mph, he was a little under 60mph. kinda hard to judge the stripe when you have over 60mph closing speed, LOL.

80 something Buick G-wagon with a 265(? baby 301),3.42 posi and TH350 without lock-up convertor...21 something. It WAS a great 1/8 mile time though!If it was for a 1/4 mile.

Iv seen that before it is crazy. I have been on the opposite end of that situation. I have raced cars with a 7 dial vs my 12.5 or whatever. It's like I'm gonna get there then all of a sudden at the line my windows explode! Its crazy been in a bone stock quiet car then having 500hp with open headers blow by lol
The 4wheeler I mentioned earlier was a fun experience. I took it on a Friday night one weekend it was the 4 wheeler and motorcycle special night they use to do it like ons Friday a month. Welp there was about 5 or 6 people showed up with there bikes it was me and two other guys with atvs one guy has a dirt bike a couple crotch rockets and a harley...that I remember. The 2 atvs were.... one was a Suzuki z400 stretched out with a long swingarm and drag slicks I dont what was done the engine but that sucker was fast. I was dialed in at 10.75 I would start in 2nd gear because like i mentioned before i couldnt keep the nose down. He dialed at 8 something i can't remember but I was half way down when he left and when he came buy me it shook my bike lol he was flying lol I beat him because he broke out. The 2nd round in raced the dirt bike beat him the third round I raved the 2nd ATV lol this guy had more in his bike than I do in my home I'm sure lol he was from north Carolina he had a Yamaha banshee that was lowered and stretched out like a rail car. It was crazy looking I can't remember what he was running but it seemed like it was low 7s maybe high 6s vs my 10.75 the look and sound of this bike was crazy. Anyway I swear I was about 20 ft from the finish line when he took off and he caught me and beat me lol. That was my elimination. That guy went on to win. I talked to him and he was a professional ATV racer he traveled everywhere drag racing atvs. So I didnt beat myself up to bad that was my first and last time actually competing in drag racing iv made some test and tune passes but that was my only competition race.

Sonoma Raceway and ran a couple of time trials against my step-daughter who was driving a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with a 4.0L V-6 rated at 270 HP @ 5600 RPM. She beat me by about 2 seconds. I ran 18.37 @ 75.37 MPH and 18.41 @ 75.79 (shifter in "Drive" and not hitting 3rd gear until right past the finish line with a 2.71 ring and pinion). Her 4Runner ran 17.05 @ 66.11 (she stepped on the brakes too soon) and 16.38 @ 82.10. According to an ET calculator my 1972 SSP auto was putting out 125 rear wheel horsepower from the original 318 two-barrel.

I loathe chasing. Hard to sit there and watch them drive away....

That is a beautiful car!! That body style has always been a top favorite b body of mine!

.

55 chevy, 265 2 bbl, 3 speed, think I ran K/S, was one round away from the trophy. to many eons passed to remember the times.

Bone stock and if my old man could cut a light to save his life he would have went rounds. It was deadly consistent, but he’s old and feeble:) it was the lowest fuel mileage I ever saw in the display 7 mpg!!!
