I drove past this car July 3, 2023, 30 miles from home, in a neighboring town.
I make this trip once a month for the past 5+ years.
I stopped, talked with father and daughter duo briefly but as shop was busy went on my way.
Every month wondered where this car was until June 25, 2025, same trip but added stop for a parts meet up 15 miles further out.
While waiting for parts to arrive, I was cruising on FB Marketplace, there it was For Sale.
3 texts later I was standing in front of it. June 26, 2025 Now in a new home, My Garage

1965 Barracuda 225/auto - heater delete - car. Buckets, floor shift w/console, manual steering, drum brakes, sway bar, 45000 miles?? (brake pedal worn) (titled "milage exempt")
My Plans: Upgrade while driving it
SAFETY INSPECTION. Antique tag, last inspt 3/92
Replace 13" tires/rims, dual MC and disc conversion, T bar upgrade. car sits too low
Maybe power steering upgrade in future

That thing is awesome.... i would clean it and drive it.. no upgrades needed :) Those tires look sooo tiny
P.S. from that wear on that brake pedal i would say it's 145k my '62 has 106k and isn't near that worn but people drive differently.

The front sway bar is odd for a low optioned Barracuda.
It has the lower tabs that look to be factory.
And newer bushings.
Super cool little car, glad you found it!
They look Sooooooo much better with 14 inch rims and tires in my opinion.
If you want to post up the fender tag someone could decode your options.

The options are weird.... Heater delete.. but has a sway bar?

Nice find! I’d put 14 with the factory exposed wheel covers on it and have fun. I bought the reproduction brake/clutch pedals yrs ago and they show wear, car isn’t a daily driver

I just occurred to me that I didn't drive it yet, Duh
P O followed me to my garage and drove it in
As far as upgrades, I want to keep it as a driver.
Sold my 67 cuda back around 2004 ish - the last classic driver I had.
Knew something was missing LOL
My 70 dart 340 going on a rotisserie soon(?)
as far as upgrades go,
the single reservoir MC got to go, 13" wheels/tires also
change brake lines
might as well go to discs (just cancelled my K/H ad due to lack of interest)
while apart might as well pop out t bars [have a 890/891 set somewhere]
also have 14 & 15" sbp steelies, 3-4 sets sbp cragars, CL sbp front runners.
Damn, "one thing leads to another"
I think I have to start an upgrade/resto thread
I also will be searching on here as to what 67&up parts interchange with early A's.
FABO just became 2x more valuable to me Thanks Joey
To everyone on here, have a great & safe 4th I know where I'll be

Forgot to mention in post 1 pic 1
Reason car was 4 sale is that Walter "Chop" passed not too long ago.
I only said high to him and commented " Nice car-had to stop"
spoke mostly to his daughter Sherrie as I was admiring the car.
I still remember the smile he wore.
I think he had a part in me finding it after 2 years. Thanks Chop

Found earlycuda.org this morning
They have a decoder
EST build date. Nov 14 1964
AB20. 225
D5 Auto
E6. Delete heater
Z2. Frt bucket seats & console
The rest is paint code info
A= gold metallic

Funny, I have NEVER seen a bench seat Barracuda.
Maybe because of the floor shift they call out Buckets.
I am pretty sure they had a column shift auto.
But for a "Sporty" car that don't make much sense.

Correct, 64 -66 all bucket seats. 64 push button and in 65-66 auto on column or floor

Dang. I've been looking fora 64-65 barracuda like this for awhile. All I can find is something clapped out or something completely redone. This is perfect because it's all in tact.

Would you mind telling us how much you got it for?

Thanks for all of the replies
Another first thing I have to do is get the front bucket to slide back more or lose some weight LOL. The pic above is taken with the seat all the way back.
The right-side seat track is holding it back, a hard stop.
Darn, this car sits so low to the ground. I got to look for a used Quik lift ramp

@plumkrazee70
I got a decent deal.
If you don't mind me asking, just curious.
What is the MOST you would offer/pay for this car?
Also,
Did you have a 70 dart resto thread couple years ago?

From those pictures, I would probably pay close to $5k of course that all depends on the actual condition.

I did have a resto thread on the 70. After it was finished, I was kinda over it so I sold it. It sold on like 3 days for full asking price, I was quite surprised.

Well you guys are close
Somewhere in the middle for the purchase price. Won’t divulge actual $
Plans are a complete going over and keep it a driver.
I have to resist the urge to start tearing into it and turning it into garage art. (Like my 70 340 dart)
At least Carlisle is a few days away.
I do have a secret love affair with the 67-68 Barracuda’s so if ……?
