Been workin with my engine builder/step dad on getting his new engine in his car and ready to race. After a couple years of gathering parts, machine work, and all the preparation that goes into a high caliber engine build, the engine is finally done, in the car, fired, and ready to race. So what is it going to run?

1964 Plymouth Fury (I know it’s not an a body)
3385lbs race ready
4.56 gears
31.25x12.2W-15 phoenix drag slick
727 Torqueflite 2.45 first gear
8” Turbo action 6700 stall converter
Footbrake car
Caltrac rear suspension with menscer shocks
Torsion bar front suspension with santhuff front shocks from Marty Rinehart

New engine is a 572” wedge
14.94:1 compression
Indy aluminum block
440-1 heads
Jesel 1.7 rockers
285/296 @ .050
.825/.800 gross lift
111 LSA
Indy single plane intake
Bob Book racing dominator w/ 1” HVH tapered spacer
4.500” 8 counterweight crower forged crankshaft
Cp Carrillo 7.150” steel rods
4.500” bore custom diamond pistons gas ported lightened skirts coated
.043/.043/3mm rings
Gapless top ring Napier 2nd ring
Jesel belt drive
Charlie’s oil pan
2 1/8”x4” hooker super comp headers
Moroso 4 vane enhanced vacuum pump

Old setup was very similar but smaller engine. Was a 540 with 4.500 stroke and 4.3750 bore. Other small differences but not worth mentioning. Car has been in the 5.70s many times with a 5.74 best @ 119.xx MPH.

This Sunday we are going to a track rental at our local track to get the car down the track.

So the question is, what are predictions on what it will run?

I didn't know he is your stepdad? I'm excited to see it run well and good luck. It's gotta (gonna) run low 5.6's or even a high 5.5!? Keep us updated.

Thanks Sean. He isn’t actually my step dad lol. It’s more of an inside joke. He calls me his adopted step son. And our team all calls me junior and refers to him as my step dad cause I spend so much time hangin out and workin with him.

What is the cage certified for?
If 8.50 I think it will be pushing that limit.
Might as well tell your step dad to put the same scoop as your dad's road runner then it will run 5.30s

Ya we like to push it lol. But we should be good. Being only 1/8 mile, we won’t need the 7.50 cert for quite a while. Hell I think 8.50 is good to 5.25 in the 1/8
Oh, yeah that's a ways away. What do you need to get that, 200 - 300 shot of nitrous?

What did it run RJ?
Best he ran was 5.72 at 119.91mph

Multiple 1.25 60’ on the last race of the year. Car was insane deadly consistent all season, especially after we hooked up the air shifter.

We have been working over the winter to make changes to the hood seal so we can put a 2” spacer on it over the 1” spacer. According to Wallace, we will need 15hp to get car the car to run 5.69. I think we should be able to find that kind of power with some changes.

I guessed 865 horsepower and used all the online calculators and kept coming up with 70’s at 118 or so.
Figured using -1 heads that was probably gonna be close, but you guys must be making more like 900 horse. Seems pretty stout to me with that head.
Great job, I think it exceeds expectations!

Thanks. Ya i always use the HP calculator on Wallace. ET always says more HP than MPH. That’s usually cause converter. So I always figure somewhere in between both is the actual figure. His 540” made 880 and 740 on a good engine dyno when he built it back in 2012. The 572 we built for our friend Danny’s roadrunner we dynod on the same dyno. It made 898 at 7100 and it stopped the pull. It was still climbing when he stopped. We are pretty fortunate with the power we pull out of the 440-1 heads.

If I ever got the extra money, I’d be going 572-13 heads to make big power.

That's faster than I'll ever go, that's badass !
Good seal on a hood scoop according to my friend was worth a better et. Sorry I can't remember what he said but he was happy about it.
