Well, I'll say I'm starting to be more in to stock or at least stock looking cars then modified ones. Having said that, I think you've lost your marbles, LOL

Na just kidding, Nothing wrong with a clean slant 6 or 318 2bbl car.

Its all in what you like. It does not make your car a worse if you want to make it more stock or put a 6 in it. Its your car do what makes you happy. Thats the best thing to do.

I agree with your wife. I like stock looking cars to but I just don't ever see a six cylinder car being worth the big bucks even if it was numbers matching. Keep the 273 and the car value higher.

A slant 6 is every bit as much Mopar as a 426 hemi. Although I prefer the V8, I say go for it and do what makes you happy.

I say enjoy that beauty and find another early a-body for the /6

You can make that 6 look just as nice as the V8 that is sitting in the car now. Once the "/6" bug has left you, it is a relatively easy swap to put the V8 back in should you ever decide to.

You should take your time with the 6 cyl preparation, however. As much care should be taken to detail the engine bay for the 6 as would be for any other restoration, whether it be for a 273 or a 383 or whatever. That would include data plate decals, inspection marks etc.
I think it will be a VERY nice looking engine bay with a highly detailed slant 6 under the hood, AND you can drive your car around all day long on $15 bucks worth of gas.

Whatever you want to do if it makes you happy. It's your car, do what you want.

When the discussion of whether to modify (or not to modify) came up at my shop and I was asked my opinion, I would always answer back that whoever's name is on the pink slip gets to do what every the hell they want to do to their car. My life philosophy: If it feels good ... do it!

I have a 225 in my '66 Valiant convert. It runs pretty decent and it feels fantastic from a start (I wish most new cars felt that good from a launch).
But I don't think it gets any better fuel economy than a V-8 and it definetely will be worth less if you decide to sell the car someday.
The early As are relatively inexpensive, I think it's a great idea to just get another car and put the built slant six in it.

I agree with Dave, your car as is looks outstanding. I would find something else to put the 6 in. Just my opinion.

It would be hard for me to go to a /6
when it is set up nice with the 273 in it.:-k
Look a dodgedevas slant. I wonder what she get mpg in her's.
It is a very nice looking set up slant.:thumbrig:

Are you snowed in and suffering from cabin fever. Heres what it really needs in my sig.

do you have a build sheet from the car? Can we see it or the list of options it came with? Do you plan on selling the car? Slant 6's are just as cool as any other engine combo. Is it 3 in the tree or auto floor or column.

Inquiring minds want to know!

how old r you. b4 i was born my dad went from a 10.5 street car, gave it up and restored a stocker model a . lol

I'll only go along with the /6 if you put a Hyper-pak on it and build it for some respectable power!

I hate to say it, but i think your women is right. Think about it, if your doing it for value, i dont think a /6 cuda is worth that mutch. If you just feel like you want the car back to an oringal /6, then maybe trade it in for a /6 car. It is your car however, but my guess is you either posted this thread because you A, might want us encourage you to swap back to a /6 or B, you are having second thoughts about your second thoughts, and want us to point out that yes you lost your marbles. I say leave it be my man.

If that slant 6 is the MATCHING NUMBER ENGINE for your car then I say it would be OK to make it original! But As good as your car looks I would leave it alone if the slant 6 is not the ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER ENGINE! Your car looks REALLY GOOD the way it is. But the bottom line is you need to do what PLEASES YOU! MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY FIRST! We all have different opinions of what makes cars look good, what makes them fast, original, etc. That is what makes playing with them so neat. There is a lot of VARIETY everywhere you look, It is your car and your $$$$ now have fun and in the end BE HAPPY!

Loosing his marbles would be doing what others want him to do instead of doing what he wants, His car, His cash, His marbles.

I have always been a V8 person, but you must do what makes YOU happy.

Bill.
