There was alot of surface rust you can't see in the before pics. I'm trying to keep this car on the cheap, so instead of driving around with primer spots, I just flat blacked her. Added the stripe to look more "finished", Got a sweet deal on the cragars from a member here-Bob Runthkry:thumbrig::thumbrig:.....and that's where I'm at so far.

Here's three after pictures. The only exterior change planned is to swap the teeny tires for 15 inchers on Magnum 500s.

Yes, it's painted. I thought the original was ugly and boring. All of the details that were used to visually bisect the grille are molded into the plastic. I got the idea from a 340 Dart Sport I saw in Waco, TX. Glad you likey. Thanks.8)

Heres mine. I added dual exhaust with SS Magnaflows and 340 non-HP manifolds, Performer intake with 72 340 thermoquad, KYB shocks, new leaf springs, front anti-sway bar, new black carpet, and Eclipse underdash CD player with front 6.5 speakers in doors. Sub and 4-ch amp soon to follow. Also new wheels with BF Goodrich TA radials.

Here's my 76 Dart last year before replacing the rear bumper, interior and duster (extended 2 inches) bondo fenders.

This was a $200 car complete but daily summer/winter driven rust bucket on wheels. I patched it up and used it dailey until I spun a bearing in the slant last fall on its last drive of the year before bed time. Putting in a super 6 from an 82 D150 hopefully next weekend... will updated pix then

well i got my Valiant thinking itd be a nice daily driver. that son of a ***** almost got me killed a number of times. so. im not gonna drive it over 35 mph on a public road again. parks car here we come.

LOL how was it nearly killing you? Mine's a nice easy ride but a lil stiff in the front end as I only have the /6 but the big block tortion bars... planning on a small block swap in the future and got the tortion bars as one of the old ones broke on the previous owner.

It (did) easilly get and maintain 75mph but over that was sluggish... typical /.

it wobbled all over the road. like wandering and searching for other veihicles to plow into. scary stuff

Yikes! that doesnt sound good at all! Have you found the problem?
Even at a good speed I can let go of the steering and continue in a relatively straight line depending on the crown in the road... and of course the potholes and crappy cold patch jobs on most of our crappy roads here lol

The only times I have had that happen is one tire in the back is low when I have a lot of weight in the trunk, bad tie rod end, bad idler and pre allignment after changing ball joints, idler and due to a different height after changing the torsion bars.

Here's my 72 Valiant. Restored it several years ago and really enjoy taking it to car shows. It has a 318 and the A/C works great.

Thanks, it makes a pretty good conversation piece. Everyone always asks "Why did you fix up a 4 door"

My answer would be why not. During the 60's they had lower sales volumes especially with the v-8's. Most were owned by John Q Public who drove them into the ground with little or no maintenance. Meanwhile the Gt's & convertables (2 doors) were cherished and muscled out. The majority of the 4 doors went to the crusher. Good news is not too many people like them so you can still buy garaged ones cheap! See below sales volumes for 64 for ie:
Dart 170 6 cyl........68,000
Dart 170 8 cyl..........2200
Dart 270 6 cyl.........53,700
Dart 270 8 cyl...........6,700
Dart 6 cyl wagon (170&270)....12,900
Dart 8 cyl wagon (170&270)......1,100
Dart GT 6 cyl............38,200
Dart GT 8 cyl............12,500
Now going by the numbers & figure in crushing my little 4 door 170 V-8 could only have about 500 of them left????
Well there's my 2 cents worth on the 4 doors. Besides they hold alot of stuff!
Where ever I go no one is less interested due to 4 doors!
Be proud you have 2 extra doors!.....We are not second class to 2 door people!!!! Opps there I went again!:-D
