Ok that all makes sense. If the cross hatching looks like crap when we scope, would that be a reason to tear it down and re-hone? I know the cross hatching is super important for the oil retention and ring movement. On the point of safety, a previous owner did a front disk brake conversion, and...

Ok point taken. What route should I take if that isn't the right one? Do a compression test and if it's good leave it completely alone?

Ohhh ok thats good to know, I thought it was the other way around for some reason. :realcrazy: Would the adapter ring would be behind the flex plate, on the crank? True, I never tested it with an IR thermometer. Once it's running again that'll be my starting point thank you! Haha I do like...

Yeah I'm not looking for a long rod build right now lol. Ok good to know. Ok that's definitely good info, good thing I didn't order one! I was going to buy a kit but forgot. It's a 180* and I think it's the stock one.

I'm wanting it to be easily daily drivable, but when I lay into it I want it to give a little more power back than it does right now.

I'm testing the compression on monday, and I'm pulling the head off so I'll be able to check the cross hatch then. Thanks for the advice!

Previous owner installed a secondary gauge cluster, with alternator output and coolant temp, the temp sensor is in the front of the head by the thermostat housing. I haven't messed with the timing and don't know what it's set at, and I increased the exaust diameter from 1.5 to 2.75 all the way...

Hey Dan, I'm pretty sure it's an early engine, it has 5 freeze plugs. The block number underneath the manifold is 2806830-5 The deck number by the spark plug is fairly worn away but what i could get is 3 251 1011 I'll attach photos

After doing some more research I think that you're right with the gaskets and paint, I was just worried about the old piston rings and getting blowby after a while but maybe that can wait . I do not have a fan shroud, previous owner must have taken it off or something. I was thinking about...

The engine is in fairly good condition although it's really dirty from years of oil leaking lol. Mileage is at least 98k miles, odometers broken, no clue when but it's at probably 110k-115k if I had to guess. It was running and driving pretty well, some issues with starting and staying started...

    Hello!

Hi there, I'm 17yrs old and working on my first classic car, my 1962 Dodge Lancer GT. It has a 225 /six, and a pushbutton a904.

So I recently had to drop the A904 tranny out of my 1962 Dodge Lancer to get it rebuilt, and while it was out, I decided to practically strip the engine bay and clean/refurb pretty much every part. I am now thinking about pulling the engine and doing a mostly full rebuild. I don't think it's...
