    Salter's BBM 383 build

The 500 hp is disappointing for TF 240 heads but with a 218 cam seems reasonable to me but the 500 lbs-ft is really good though. A point of cr and 6-12 degrees more cam would make more difference top probably without effecting much down low, it is what it is I guess.

    Salter's BBM 383 build

A lot of good points, I think he said his timing light had a malfunction, why timing was so far.

    Do you wave?

It's best to assume drivers don't see ya, lots of blind spots plus distraction for drives. (especially left hand turns). I generally wave/nodded/thank, but also get mad at peeps that stop to let you cross when there's no need for it, like their the only car and would be quicker and easier if...

Salter Racing Engines, 383 502 Hp & Tq

Probably the customer boxed him in with uncompromising wants.

I know, my point was you would generally lose rpm also with buddies example, say going 365 to 408 will definitely gain torque but usually at a lower rpm powerband.

This is another pretty kewl build 618 hp 361/412. Mopar 412 Big-Block

I believe it's this one 371ci Mopar Small Block - Deadly Weapon I really like this build :)

Salter Racing Engines, 383 502 Hp & Tq

Adds torque but gives up rpm, it takes both to make power. More torque at a lower rpm doesn't necessarily equal more power. 2nd issues what would be an fair comparison, what's considered same/similar level of build between two engines of different displacements and bore, stroke and rod...

I wouldn't say that's entirely true, that a stroker and or displacement automatically adds power, especially when you look at in hp per cid.

Sure it more than just a slapped together ootb engine. But Max effort with a 218 cam ?

Don't worry about hi-jacking, itls all good, I don't mind, talk about whatever you want :)

Not bad, 408 numbers with what a lot consider a throw away engine :)

BORE SHROUDING TEST: 4.03" vs 3.91" Edelbrock RPM Heads Really Fit a 318? Project Mission Impossible

This topic reminded me of this build, the ported EQ results I all ways found a little disappointing. The shrouding might be/part the cause of this 400 hp 318 recipe, when they upgraded the 1.92 EQ's (402 hp) to ported 2.03 EQ's (227 VS 273 cfm @ .500" lift) and got 425 hp both at 6,200 rpm...

    Stall speed

For those that know got a question somewhat related. Say you shift at 6,400 rpm peak hp is at 5,800 rpm but you got a long flat torque curve of at least 450 lbs-ft from 3,500-4,500 rpms but technically peaks 455 lbs-ft at 3,500 rpm. Wouldn't something around a 4,500 rpm stall...

    Stall speed

Converters are still a bit of a mystery to me but seems to me for the streets you need at least enough stall to coverup cam overlap and above that how much performance you want (compromise/uncompromise) and "UN" seems around peak torque.
