Check all the grounds again, with a jumper from battery to side of socket. I have also seen a broken bulb filament shorting against the other filament cause all sorts of issues.

Sure you can. Make sure your throttle cable,after install, pulls carb to wide open when floored. It’s all the same.

Sidewalk repairs never work, too much flexing of the sidewall. Maybe talk to the OP for his paperwork? Obviously a defect in construction.

Super lean? You said runs good cold, after warmed up try holding choke 1/2ways shut and hit throttle. Agree,there’s lots to look at before digging into engine internals.

lol, used to that stuff; but I used a hose feeding exhaust from another running car to fill tank with no oxygen. A little flame outside the tank, quit flaming soon after. Today I shudder at what I used to do!

You also could have a sloppy timing chain. 5-10*BTDC timing at idle should work all the time. Maybe harmonic balancer has slipped around?

More than once I’ve used “pretty tight” with a normal 4-5”(?) open end wrench. It works fine.

IF you have problems then maybe move towards radiator a little. Could very well be OK as is.
