USA and AUSTRALIAN ,NEW ZEALAND DARTS

Larry, the inner guards are 2" longer and a different shape at the front, also the whole rad support panel is wider where it meets the front of the inner guards. These photos may help you see the difference ... Cheers, Mike

You would have to replace everything forward of the fire wall including the inner guards and extend the chassis rails by 2" to use the sheetmetal on a US Dart. Honestly it would be far cheaper and easier to import an Australian Valiant Hardtop. Cheers, Mike

USA and AUSTRALIAN ,NEW ZEALAND DARTS

In Australia what you call Darts were known as Valiant Hardtops. They were manufactured here between 1969 and 1971 in two model ranges, VF's from 1969 till April 1970 then VG's through till April 1971. They were sold in a number of versions from base models to Regals to Regal 770's,. There...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

Time for an update ..... Progress has been made, albeit a little slower than I hoped. About 75% of the final fitup has been completed and the engine is within a week (I hope!) of being ready to drop in. Here his the car on the hoist at Rev It Up today .... New handbrake cables fitted as...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

Unfortunately I won't be using the hood now for a couple of reasons: 1. As it was all fabricated out of steel it's WAY too heavy for a race car, might use it on a street only car one day, and 2. I decided to use a Super Victor inlet with a 2" 4150 to 4500 spacer/adaptor so even the carb will...

Couldn't wait to post these pictures of the finished product ......... I'm VERY happy with it :-D :-D Thanks to Ranger Danger and Lynx for all their help. I only wish it had an engine so I could drive it to the show this weekend (sideways  ). Found an old Hurst Equipped badge that...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

The name was applied to the car this afternoon. My thanks to RangerDanger for both coming up with the name and for providing the graphics file to give to the signmakers. The background to the name is that the NT Police race a Commodore in the Street Meet races up here that has the name "The...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

These photos were taken on Sat afternoon when Chris (Lynx), Phil (RangerDanger) and another mate came around to help me start to put the graphics on the Pacer H/top (and drink beer!). The intent is to use the nostalgia dragster look, I took a lot of photos of Darts when I was working in Canada...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

After sitting in the workshop gathering dust for the last 8 months with very little progress it's time for an update on this project. Work and other more pressing priorities (buying Pacers :-D) have meant over that period very little was progressed on the car. I had also been frustrated over...

    1970 VG Pacer h/top Street-Strip car

I thought it was about time I put together a post on this project now it is getting towards completion, plus it might spur me on to get it finished - it was supposed to be completed two months ago. The car is a genuine VG Pacer h/top (body #123) although it has parted company with its...

    Resto project from downunder

I just realised that it's 12 months since the last update on this project! I'd like to say that it's now completed, but sadly that's still not the case. Due to work and family commitments as well as buying a couple of pickups from the US and spending too many $$$ on "Cool Breeze", there has...
