    318 Oil Pan Gasket/Sealing techniques?

I thought the same thing about pulling it out for an overhaul but it runs so well as is, so I really hate to do it. It will get a new timing set for sure while I have the front cover off. I’ve got a lift so it takes a lot of the frustration out of doing something like this.

    318 Oil Pan Gasket/Sealing techniques?

While I had the pan off, I replaced the rear main seal as well. The engine has a 1967 casting date on it and I don't think it has ever had the pan off of it. I'm replacing the timing cover gasket, front crankshaft seal and valve cover gaskets while I'm at it. Will likely do the intake manifold...

    318 Oil Pan Gasket/Sealing techniques?

I've got a 318 that is still in the vehicle, I'm putting a new oil pan gasket on due to it leaking profusely in the past. I want to do this the right way and not deal with leaks in the future. I have thoroughly cleaned the pan, straightened the pan rails and bolt hole openings. I have...

Need Quick Garage Cost Info ASAP !!

The building honestly is one of the cheapest parts of the equation. Site prep, permits, concrete, electrical, plumbing, driveway(gravel or additional concrete), lighting, insulation, floor coating, and erection of the building are all significant costs. There are more costs associated with...

ProMaxx and IMM aluminum small block LA heads

Good afternoon, I am doing some research for my upcoming 340 build and have come across the heads in the links below. I can't find much on the internet about either of these and wanted to know if any of you have purchased and ran them on your engines. I've read some great things about IMM in...

340 camshaft recommendations for stock converter

John, I've got all of the stock components except for the carb. It had a single inlet, spread bore holley on it. I'll have to look at the model number to determine the CFM rating. After getting the intake and oil pan off, the engine is going to have to be gone through. Unfortunately, it was...

340 camshaft recommendations for stock converter

I’m almost certain that’s what it is. This was a combo that’s been together in storage since the late 70s. I just got the 727 book and looking at it the converters came with this sticker on them? I’m sure this is likely long gone from mine but if the converter measures 10.75” in diameter, that’s...

340 camshaft recommendations for stock converter

Thank you for the feedback. I’d like to keep the factory high stall. Those flash about 23-2400 rpm, correct? I agree, I plan to up the compression when I go through it. I was thinking 9.5-10:1. I wish I had spare LD340! I have one on my Cuda. I’ve had 4 different intakes on it and it’s by far...

340 camshaft recommendations for stock converter

After running the numbers on the engine, I have a 72 340, made on September 30, 1971. So it would have lower compression and smaller valve heads, correct? R denoting regular fuel?

340 camshaft recommendations for stock converter

Hello, I will be rebuilding a 340 for my duster soon with mostly stock components and wanted to get some recommendations for a camshaft for it. I just got the engine yesterday and I can tell it has a forged steel crank, J heads and the factory cast iron intake. I will be using this car for...
