New Challenger - deep discounts again

I just bought a Sublime SXT with the Blacktop Package for $8000 off sticker. I love it so far.

Aw, sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter how old they are, it's always tough.

    Cat Pics

Thanks! I actually designed that and had one of my wife's coworkers (who does woodworking) build it. It's a cat stand/liquor cabinet, and the stairs have a hinged top so we can hide their cat toys in it. (We also have another cat, Diesel. He and Big Mac do NOT get along.)

    Cat Pics

This is our cat Big Mac. We got him from the Humane Society as a three year old, and he's a little weird. But he's handsome.

    Valve seal replacement

Don't overthink it. I changed all of them with air pressure and a cheap Harbor Freight valve compressor in an hour or two. I'm sure rope works just as well, and as Dan said above, it will be quieter than having your 15-year-old Craftsman oilless air compressor rattling away in the background.

    Car carrier/transporter needed

Auto Transport - DAVE'S NATIONWIDE CLASSIC RELOCATION. Last year, I used David Phelps at the link above. Great guy, no problems at all. It is an enclosed trailer and will cost more than the brokers, but I've had a hard time getting brokers to pick up my deliveries - they don't seem to want to...

    Anyone see the eclipse yesterday?

Yep, got a break in the clouds here in Michigan, and I got a pack of eclipse glasses last week. I love that stuff.

    Eddy 1405 tuning advice

Yeah, if the slightly stiffer springs made that much of a difference, I'd be swapping carbs just to see if something else was wrong. The Carter spring is almost sure to be stiffer than the pink spring.

    Eddy 1405 tuning advice

Totally unscientific, but factory Carter springs are probably on the stiffer side (depending on the engine). I don't know for sure, but I'd guess they were closer to the 8" springs in the Eddy kit. I'm sure, however, that every engine had a specific spring. I don't think you'll feel a...

    Eddy 1405 tuning advice

They're not exactly the same, but you can make them work. Have you tried the Carter in your picture? It's only a few minutes to see if the symptoms are the same with another carburetor. I think it's been mentioned on this thread, but Edelbrocks are running on the idle circuit at a higher...

    Eddy 1405 tuning advice

Did you say you also had a 1406? I wonder if you should pop it on there just to see if there's a quirk in the 1405. 1406s come set up a little lean, so if you have a set of 7347 or 7147 rods, you may want to pop them in. If not, you can still do a comparison.

Any reason you're not running Comp's suggested valve lash?

Is it possible that all the affordable project cars are now taken?

The secret is to like stuff that nobody else really wants! I really like Buicks, but unless it's a GS or something, they're just not that popular. 1970 Firebirds are insane. 1974 Firebirds are not. 1968 Darts are popular. 1965 Darts, not so much. Nobody wants a '61-'63 Thunderbird. They...

    Edelbrock springs 1406 and 1405

Do you have access to a single carb manifold? If you're going to be doing some miles, it may be better to narrow it down to one carb (you can try each to see which one runs better).
