They were put on at the time of the rebuild. I wouldn’t think the shop would have balanced the rotating assembly, so figured it is money well spent.

Well, different pistons. Also the advice in this thread by at least one member, and don’t see a reply contradicting that reply.

So between this forum and my normal forum, in the past 3 weeks I’ve gone from milling the block and intake to raise the SCR. To just squaring it at 9.58 from the crank centerline. Then to leaving it as is and focus on the camshaft. I’ve gathered (between the forums) I want a tight LSA, small...

I don’t discount the need for a degree wheel. I’ve only had friends do it for me in the past. But will a degree wheel tell me the .050 duration and the LSA of the cam as well? I’ve only understood them to make sure the cam was installed in the proper position

Yes, then the “why to a 318, etc” questions, I get it though. It’s easy for me to spend someone else’s money!

Or, change the pistons out for forged, scout around for a 6-71, and… :)

lol! I’ll get the one in it out this week, send it off to get measured, who knows, the shop may have picked a decent one.

I’m often told I ask too many questions, over think things etc. but I think it’s as you mentioned, just make a plan. I’ve no issues changing midstream from what I started off with. Could be why it takes me so long to get going!!!!

Well now…I sent a message a bit ago to a fella who works for with Delta cams or Oregon cams. I don’t recall, but he’s a member on the board I normally go to. I’ve asked hom to build me a cam card on the cam I have, then I’ll go from there. If the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, I’ll just run...

I might add, in the first thread I came to realize why I wanted to do, wasn’t a decent approach. I made mention of asking for advice and am following it.

Not decked, squared and to 9.58. Right now I’m .095-.105 down.

Give me a well running and responsive engine is my expectations. My days of high winding etc, are long gone.
