I have all the factory parts from the 318 that was in here. I had to extend the linkage at the carburetor for the different intake manifold and carb, maybe that messed up the throw. Was think about getting one of the Lokar cable types to make things easier. Just not sure how well they work.

I have changed the filters and they are the transparent kind, I haven't seen any debris in them yet. Currently I have a Holley blue with inline reg and a pressure gauge, I want to switch to the mechanical because I don't like the noise. I may wait until I have it running better to swap it :)...

So, I am a little confused. You are saying I have too much advance, but crackedback said I should add 4 degrees to my cam timing. The dampener was on 0 mark for TDC.

Alright here are the compression readings, I cycled the engine 4 revolutions. 1- 130 2- 144 3-140 4-135 5-140 6-137 7-138 8-140

Taken apart at the moment. It has a hard time getting anywhere near 5 grand. The linkage is on, not sure if it is set right, been testing mostly around 1st gear.

At this point I am trying to find the cheapest/fastest option. I just bought the TC. I could change the head gasket. If I start talking about changing heads, then I might just get a rebuild stock 360 engine. Going to get a compression tester in a few minutes.

I just found some notes from when I got this engine. The guy said it was bored 30 over and had flat top pistons installed. 596 heads The torque converter is rated 1700. I will have to figure out the gears, but I would assume stock. The engine and car did not come together, the stock engine was a 318
